Opportunities for psychologists, physicians, etc. to make some extra money while working from home

Supplementing your income with medical records reviews and IME's

As some of you may be aware I publish a referral source directory that includes hundreds of potential referral sources for work performing medical records reviews and independent medical examinations. This work can be done by physicians, psychologists and other healthcare professionals. This includes some opportunities to make some extra money while sitting at home by doing file reviews. My “book” (just a directory really) is a list of companies and many of them offer opportunities to do some work from home. The directory is available on Amazon: Supplementing your income with medical records file reviews and independent medical examinations (IME’s), 3rd edition: A directory of referral sources for Reviews & IME’s

I also wanted to pass along a few opportunities I heard about this week. I often do this in the Facebook and LinkedIn groups and via the mailing list I maintain but haven’t really been putting that on the Psychology.news blog in a while. You can learn more about that here: www.ReviewsandIMEs.com

This week I received an email from a company I consult with on disability insurance claims (Professional Disability Associates). They note that:

Good Afternoon,

As you likely know, PDA continues to grow, particularly in the demand for high-quality file reviews.  To fill this need for our clients, we are focused on expanding our network of physicians.  While we are happy to receive CVs from any specialty, in particular we are looking for physicians in the following specialties (preferably in clinical practice):

  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with Pain Medicine (dual boarded)
  • Psychiatry
  • Rheumatology
  • Occupational Medicine
  • Neurosurgery

If you’re interested feel free to email me at toddfinnerty@toddfinnerty.com and I will pass your name along to the person that sent me the email. You can also just go directly to their website (feel free to tell them that I sent you).

In addition to file review opportunities, R3 Continuum sent an email this week about IME’s/Evaluations via Telehealth. They provided a link to their training if you haven’t taken it yet.

R3 Evaluation Services and COVID-19
As concerns around COVID-19 continue to grow, we’re monitoring the latest information and taking all the precautions we can to help make sure you are safe and that we provide the same to those we serve. While we assess the situation internally, incorporating emerging data and developing recommendations from the CDC, the World Health Organization, and all State/Local authorities, risk-based decisions are being made on a case-by-case basis. To that effect, we have a request in response to the current challenge:

Please do not accept a referral if you are sick and let us know if you become sick after you’ve accepted a referral.

Our customers are requesting telehealth evaluations when that is appropriate. We encourage you to take the telehealth training if you haven’t already done so, so that you’re also ready should the need arise. The training can be accessed by clicking here.

We appreciate your understanding during this unusual period and please know we are sending the same message to our customers and the people we serve.

As this health challenge continues to develop, we will keep you informed of any other changes.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you for your continued support as you make a difference in the lives of many!

Thanks, I hope things are going well with everyone. Stay safe out there.

Todd Finnerty, Psy.D.
